BIO

Ola Shaker is a Cultural Heritage Management Planning expert. She holds an architectural degree from the University of Petra in Jordan. Through her 7 years’ work experience, she has been thoroughly involved in several projects dealing with the conservation and managment of architectural and archaeological heritage in Jordan, Iraq and the UAE. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s in Architecture Conservation in Sapienza Università di Roma, where the focus is how to preserve and consolidate existing architectural and environmental heritage in addition to developing new projects taking into consideration historical aspects.

March 2019 - August 2019, Conservation Architect/ Project Manager
Turquoise Mountain, Amman, Jordan.
She was in charge of studying different alternatives for a conservation project to be implemented in Jordan. This involved researching historic contexts, production of as-found and concept design drawings; maintaining strong relationships with the key stakeholders. In addition to being part of a renovation project supervision team.


October 2012 - March 2019, Architect/ Cultural Heritage Management Specialist
Turath: Architecture & Urban Design Consultants, Amman, Jordan.
She was involved in various conservation management planning, design and urban planning projects at different scales. Including but not limited to: urban regeneration and rehabilitation of the village of Kaf in northern Saudi Arabia; documentation work and design of visitor routes at Erbil Citadel, Iraq; design of a public park and tourism activity in Dibeen Forest Reserve, Jordan; concept development of a visitors center at the Shomari Nature Reserve, Jordan; Interpretation signs design for Ajloun visitor center and Castle, Jordan; and conservation management plan (CMP) for Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE.


July - September 2012, Intern Architect
Turath: Architecture & Urban Design Consultants, Amman, Jordan.
Participated in the Interior design of a residential villa and also contributed to the preparation of a conservation management plan for the Baptism Site in Jordan.
